What are the benefits of joining Wolves Martial Arts?

We are fully insured

Wolves Martial Arts is a fully insured and registered martial arts school. Over 80% of martial arts clubs in Australia are either not affiliated with the government body “Australian Sports Commission” or they are not insured at all, which is dangerous both physically and financially.

Fully developed training programs

All our programs are developed carefully so they are both interesting, easy to learn and safe. All our programs are fully documented, so the classes are consistent throughout each term.

Five locations throughout the Blue Mountains

Wolves Martial Arts runs Taekwondo classes five nights a week, Haidong Gumdo four nights a week and Streetwise Hapkido once a week, at five different locations throughout the Blue Mountains: Springwood (Monday nights), Blaxland (Tuesday nights), Winmalee (Wednesday nights), Leura (Thursday nights) and Hazelbrook (Friday nights).

Fully Trained Instructors

Master Andrew Johnston personally trains all Instructors. The development of a student becoming an Instructor takes no less than five years. We pride ourselves on being always willing to adopt any new training, or safety procedure that comes to our attention. All our Instructors are WTF Black Belt world recognised Instructors. They are fully insured and registered with the “Australian Sports Commission” as Coaches and all have their Senior First Aid Certificates.

We really want to help our students

We have been teaching Taekwondo since 1993, Haidong Gumdo since 2008 and Streetwise Hapkido since 2019 in the Blue Mountains community, and we have helped thousands of people. The reason Wolves Martial Arts has been so successful is because all of our Instructors are focused on one goal, and one goal only – that is we want to “help people feel better about themselves”. For some people feeling better about themselves may entail them becoming healthier from practising Taekwondo, Haidong Gumdo or Streetwise Hapkido to defend themselves and becoming more confident.

What will you be doing in a Taekwondo, Haidong Gumdo or Streetwise Hapkido class?

All our martial art classes start with a warm up, followed by a systematic stretching program. Next, skills learnt over previous weeks will be reviewed and practiced.

This is then followed by a pre-determined activity, which may include self-defence techniques, or free sparring (contact depends on the class level), kicking drills or poomsae (patterns) work. The classes generally finish off with a cool down, or meditation.

How to join information

Insurance

Before any new student can participate in any classes, they must be fully insured. All insurance fees and insurance information will be provided by your Instructor.

Free Lessons

The first two lessons are FREE. We want to know if you have enjoyed yourself, and want to continue training Taekwondo, Haidong Gumdo or Streetwise Hapkido.

Uniform and Protective Equipment

If you want to order a uniform or protective equipment, please see your Instructor for a form. All protective equipment such as mouth guards, arm and leg guards, and groin guards are strongly recommended. The safety aspects in Taekwondo, Haidong Gumdo or Streetwise Hapkido is very important to us. We have been operating since 1993, and have had no serious accidents. The protective equipment is a safety precaution we recommend.
