What is Hapkido?

Hapkido is a highly effective martial arts system that uses self-defence employing realistic street style applications using joint locks, grappling, strikes, take downs, grappling and ground fighting systems. It uses techniques similar to other martial arts including kicks, punches and striking attacks, and teaches weapon training, including short stick (dan bong) and bō staff (wood of varying lengths) and bamboo cane. Wolves Streetwise Hapkido is easy to learn and suitable for teenagers and adults.

The Wolves Streetwise Hapkido program is an easy to learn martial arts program. Wolves Streetwise Hapkido is a progressive program. It equally respects and honours the traditional path of the martial arts.

The primary aim of the Wolves Streetwise Hapkido programs is for the practitioner to learn to defend themselves. There is no sport aspect side to this martial arts program. All techniques and strategies in the Wolves Streetwise Hapkido program do not require strength or aggression for them to be effective. It’s a martial arts program that uses circular flowing counter fighting techniques to redirect their attackers energy.

Wolves Streetwise Hapkido utilises easy to learn techniques such as strikes, low kicks, joint locks, take downs, throws, grappling, ground fighting and break falls. Our program also incorporates comprehensive weapons training. The weapons that are taught are short stick, bō staff and walking cane. The weapon training is centred entirely on self-defence application.

Wolves Streetwise Hapkido program is suitable for any adult or teenager 13 years and older. No previous martial arts experience is necessary.
